How will I know where to go, and what to do when I arrive in Crown Heights?

Guests will check in at the lobby of the Jewish Children’s Museum, 792 Eastern Parkway, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Once they register, they will receive directions to their host family, along with a map and detailed schedule of events. The program will begin with welcome drinks at 5:00 p.m. and formal opening at 6:30 p.m.

Is the shabbaton for me?

The shabbaton was designed for the young Jewish professional who works hard all week and is in need of a little vacation. If you appreciate meeting new people and are open to exploring new scenarios, especially ones that tap into your cultural roots, the shabbaton is for you. Everyone needs a healthy dose of challah and chicken soup!

Where will the Shabbat meals be held?

There will be two main feasts throughout Shabbat, with hors d’oeuvres and kiddushes hosted throughout.

Friday Night Dinner will take place in the home of your host. The meal will be intimate and with select friends. Contact Faygie at 718-774-6187 or e-mail her at faygie@shabbaton.org to make special requests.

Saturday Banquet Lunch will be an exclusive feast for all the YJP guests and will be hosted at the Jewish Children’s Museum.

How far is the shabbaton from Manhattan?

Most shabbaton functions will take place at the Jewish Children’s Museum, which is located directly next to the 3 Subway train that goes into New York City. The trip takes approximately 30 minutes to arrive in at mid-town.

Will I have time to relax?

The shabbaton program is the perfect blend of relaxation, stimulation, and socialization. There will be programs throughout the afternoon, but attendees are able to take a tour, relax, or take the beloved Shabbat nap. For those who have the energy, there will be guided tours through town or time to explore the Botanical Gardens and Prospect Park around the corner.

Can I cancel my reservation?

You are welcome to cancel anytime up until 48 hours before the Shabbaton and receive a full refund. We are really sorry we cannot give you a refund if you cancel within 48 hours.
